Job Description

Building Services Representatives are the backbone of the Long Center’s Operations Department, tactfully enforcing and executing the Long Center’s safety, security, traffic, and parking policies and procedures. BSRs monitor and manage staff and patron access throughout the Long Center, including exterior spaces. Come be a part of our part-time event crew!

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

• Working a variety of shifts during the day, evening, on weekends and holidays, inside or outside of the facility (including during variable seasonal weather conditions); must have reliable transportation.
• Monitor and control access points and verify proper credentials before allowing entry to applicable portions of facility or grounds; provide security escorts as required for VIP’s, elected officials, or artists.
• Monitor, protect and control Long Center exterior driveways, designated mobility impaired drop-off/pick-up, valet parking, bus lane, service yard, parking or other pedestrian areas related to events or functions.
• Monitor aisles, cross aisles, or other portions of “Front of House” areas of theatres when required to ensure show production policies and security requirements are met.
• Monitor, protect and control areas related to the performance stage area, dressing room corridors, backstage, bus and truck production areas and related equipment; BSR shall protect the security and privacy of performers (no autographs or photographs)
• Assure proper ingress/egress paths are maintained for safety and security of patrons, employees, and performers inside or outside facility as required.
• Maintain designated post (position) until event or function is over and building empties and/or garage or parking areas clear unless relieved by supervisor.
• Clear and check facility upon the conclusion of the event to ensure appropriate areas are vacated in a timely manner; lock and secure facility as required.
• Assist in investigating and appropriately resolving complaints received from patrons (House Management, Production or Box Office should handle initial issue as appropriate before involving Building Services Representatives)
• Follow established Long Center/HIPPA protocols as applicable for medical emergencies, fire alarms, evacuations, patron ejections, etc. (BSRs may be required to assist in the removal of unruly, drunk, disorderly, or otherwise violent persons)
• Complete written accident/incident form for all patron accidents, injuries, ejections, or arrests and submit to Operations Manager.
• Adhere to and enforce applicable Long Center policies and procedures per the Long Center Employee Handbook.

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)

• High School diploma and one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education/experience.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

This flexible part-time position starts at $17/hour with the potential to be seasonal, or to grow into a Security on Duty role. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position. • Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
• Frequently required to work outdoors, including during inclement weather.
• Usually experience a moderate noise level but at times it may be loud. Ear plugs are available for noisy position assignments.
• Will experience prolonged periods of standing, sitting, and/or walking an area, depending on their specific assignment for the day.
• Regularly required to use close vision, distance vision, be able to adjust focus, talk and hear.
