Summary

The YWCA Director of Childcare provides the daily oversight for all childcare and early education programs (including average of 200+ children in Infant/Toddler, Preschool, School Age and Trauma-informed classrooms) within the childcare department. The Director of Childcare is the administrator responsible for operations of YWCA Childcare Programs for children, ages infant-5 th grade. In addition, the Director is responsible for compliance with Early Start CT, NAEYC Accreditation standards, and Connecticut Childcare Licensing requirements, and related grant requirements, reporting, and budgeting. The Director of Childcare works with childcare management team to address curriculum development / implementation/quality control, customer service/communication to parents, and staff hiring/supervision/evaluation and staff training requirements. The Director of Childcare is responsible for ensuring all aspects of Childcare Program adhere to: Licensing and Food Grant Compliance, as well as, Professional Development Requirements and Annual Training.

Duties

* Provide day-to-day leadership and management for the YWCA Childcare Programs and staff including but not limited to childcare management staff and teaching staff. 
* Plan, promote, organize, supervise and evaluate all classrooms/programs within the department.
* Maintain programs in accordance with NAEYC Accreditation, including submission of associated reports. Contact for YWCA on NAEYC portal. Keep abreast of trends/changes in funding, regulation, and programming within your assigned area.
* Supervise Coach/Training staff to ensure curriculum alignment with NAEYC and Early Start CT standards.
* Complete yearly review of all policies in collaboration with education, nutrition and health consultants and update of all departmental procedures and practices to align.
* Complete periodic review and update of job descriptions, parent handbooks, and evaluation rating guidelines as needed.
* Recruit, supervise, and evaluate all staff within your specified program area in accordance with agency policies, licensing, NAEYC Accreditation, and state standards.
* Observe staff and maintain portfolios on those who you supervise for the purpose of providing fair and objective evaluations and coaching. Demonstrate a consistent and strong system for document management related to regulations, families and staff
* Primary Childcare Administrator responsible for ensuring compliance with Connecticut childcare licensing requirements and submitting licensing applications/updates as needed. Primary contact for all Licensing Consultants.
* Plan, regular full staff meetings and professional development to share information, resources, and build an effective childcare staff team.
* Positively promote the YWCA and YWCA Childcare programs within the community, including, coordinating publication of brochures, alerting senior management team of special events for publicity, and participating in local community groups promoting high quality care and education.
* Develop and maintain reports and statistics necessary for the Board of Directors, funders, and regulators.
* Be thoroughly familiar with all aspects of department funding. Develop, implement, and monitor department budgets and spending.
* Enhance and expand services and programs to meet the changing needs of families.
* Maintain positive relationships with children, staff, parents, and co-workers. 
* Attend meetings, workshops, and conferences that will enhance individual professional development and benefit the YWCA.
* Maintain certification of self and staff in accordance with licensing, Accreditation, Early Start CT, and other local or state governing agencies.
* Assume a fair share of responsibility for all Association Events.
* Abide by the written policies, including the Positive Guidance and Mandated Reporter Policy, for all Childcare programs.
* Be thoroughly familiar with YWCA Employee Handbook and Personnel Policies.

Requirements

A bachelor’s degree in early childhood or related field, CT Childcare Director’s credential, and a minimum of 3-4 years of previous supervisory experience in childcare program of similar size required. Knowledge and a deep understanding of, and experience with, childcare licensing, accreditation, and school readiness standards required.

Nice To Haves
