Summary We are looking for an afternoon Pre-K Teacher from 3:00 to 5:30 PM, Monday to Friday. Arrive in the afternoon after snack, supervise free play/projects, outside and then a late snack and free play as we close the school for the day.
(Can be combined with Morning position open for a full time 9:30 to 5:30) We are participating in the Early Achievers Program and teachers can apply for scholarships in ECE.
We have a dedicated group of professional teachers that share a common goal of offering programs that meet children and family’s needs. Each program focuses on a different age group and offers opportunities to learn new skills and explore different topics of study.

Director Katrina Brooke has worked at The Shyne School since 2002 when her oldest son was two years old. Her youngest son also attended starting in 2006 at the age of two. Katrina started working in the childcare field at the age of 16 as an Aide and has held the positions of Assistant, Lead Assistant, Lead (8 yrs.), Program Supervisor (8 yrs.) and Director (25+ yrs.). She understands how important each position is to providing quality care for students and the respect needed for teachers. She attended U of W, North Seattle Collage and Lake WA Tech. The Shyne School has seen core teachers work for 2 to 27 years.
Duties - Support children's emotional and social development, encouraging understanding of others and positive self-concepts.
- Care for children in home like setting
- Sanitize toys and play equipment.
- Guide children's behavior and teach problem solving skills.
- Observe and monitor children's play activities.
- Welcome and great families at the end of the day.
- Good customer service and communication skills needed.
- Instruct children in health and personal habits, such as eating and toilet habits.
- Read to children.
- Organize and store toys and materials to ensure order in activity areas.
- Perform housekeeping duties, such as laundry, cleaning, toy washing.
- Maintain a safe play environment.
- Serving snacks to children.
- Perform general administrative tasks, such as taking attendance, injury reports, and messaging or making phone calls to parents.

- Background Check (Free)
- TB Test (Current, with in the last year)
- First Aide, CPR, AED (Free )

Requirements and Qualifications: - Must be at least 18+ years of age.
- Knowledge of and experience with groups of children.
- Knowledge and understanding of guiding behavior.
- Active e-mail account.
- Ability to work as a member of a team.
- STARS ID number
- Registered with MERIT
- Complete Department of Early Learning Portable Background Card.
- Must take Childcare Basics 30 clock hour class within 3 months.
Physical Requirements The usual and customary methods of performing the job’s functions require the following physical demands: significant lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; frequent stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling; and significant fine finger dexterity. The job requires 10% sitting, 45% walking, and 45% standing.
Must be obtained before employment: - TB test and Current vaccines – Proof of MMR and vaccines, required.

About Us Since 1983 The Shyne School has been providing high quality care for children 1 to 6 years old. The Shyne School is in Woodinville, Washington; about one mile North of Redmond city limits, on Avondale Road. We specialize in licensed play-based educational programs for children ages 1 to 5 years old. Parents have the flexibility to choose from three different daily schedules for toddlers through Pre-Kindergarten. We have long-term staff.
