Position: Superintendent.

Wage: $35-$40 / Hour.

Description:  
The Superintendent is responsible for scheduling, coordinating, and supervising field employee’s activities on the project site. You will work closely with your Project Manager regarding all project activities. Project Superintendents are encouraged to keep all lines of communication open with the Project Manager.

Essential Functions:

  • Thoroughly review project documents including plans and specifications.
  • Meet with the Project Manager regarding how the project was bid, labor burden, equipment costs, etc.
  • Understand all items of work and know the budget for each work item.
  • Endeavor to meet or better construction budget.
  • Become familiar with scheduling requirements to achieve or beat the project schedule.
  • Manage & Coordinate subcontractors and suppliers on the project.
  • Handle daily project problems with assistance from the Project Manager as required.
  • Layout projects for building locations and site work.
  • Verify field dimensions when necessary.
  • Keep the job site safe and clean.
  • Responsible for Project Safety and EEO.
  • Keep tool trailer and truck clean and orderly.
  • Hire and lay off workers as required.
  • Quality control over our work and subcontractors.
  • Coordinate problem resolution with engineers and owners.
  • Maintain equipment.
  • Compile all field paperwork.
  • Coordinate all project-related activities.
  • Ensure that required equipment is on the project when needed.
  • Help keep track of change order work and extra work.
  • Monitor and ensure that punch list items are completed in a timely manner.
  • Work in high, precarious places such as scaffolding and ladders.
  • Work in outdoor weather conditions including extreme heat or cold.
  • Review costs and keep updated with the help of the Project Manager.
  • This position reports directly to the Project Manager.
  • Follows all company standards based on the employee handbook, drug & alcohol policy, and safety handbooks.
  • This role is based out of the Lewistown, MT office, but travel to projects will be required with this position. Either positioned at the out-of-town project for the duration or travel on a regular basis will be required. 


* Lodging for overnight projects outside of Lewistown, MT is pre-arranged and paid for by Benchmark Masonry. Because it is paid for and provided by Benchmark Masonry, it is not a perdiem benefit paid to the employee.

* Company vehicles are used for travel to all projects from the Benchmark Masonry shop in Lewistown, MT, and back. Because company vehicles are used and are fueled by Benchmark Masonry, travel is not a perdiem benefit paid to the employee. However, if driving, hourly wages for travel in company vehicles to and from projects, will be paid to the employee. Paid travel time will be given to the employee who is driving when travel is within the current Benchmark Masonry field crew working hours.

*Meal reimbursements are paid to employees in which overnight stays are required for projects outside of Lewistown, MT.

Experience and Skills Desired:

  • Five plus years of fieldwork experience on commercial construction projects.
  • Must require minimal supervision.
  • Must have a valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Display a professional and courteous attitude to co-workers, supervisors, and the public always.
  • Be willing to work in a team environment and assist co-workers or supervisors with other duties as required.
  • Confident in English and Spanish languages.
  • Clean criminal background as we work on secure state and federal facilities.
  • Must be able to read and understand project documents such as plans and specifications.
  • Prior experience in managing self-performance trade scopes is highly desirable.
  • OSHA training.
