Position Summary: 

The Coordinator, Government Affairs is an entry-level position supporting the work of RILA’s Public Affairs department. Reporting to the Vice President of Tax, this role assists with the day-to-day execution of member-facing activities, policy tracking and research, and communications that advance RILA’s tax and public policy priorities. The coordinator will play a vital role in logistics, content development, member engagement, and internal coordination to ensure smooth execution of the department’s initiatives. This is a collaborative position ideal for a motivated early-career government affairs professional with strong communication, organizational, and analytical skills.

 

Position Responsibilities:

  • Serve as internal project manager for key deliverables by tracking timelines, documenting progress, and aligning with relevant team members.
  • Conduct policy research and prepare briefing materials, reports, talking points, etc.
  • Draft and support delivery of written member communications including newsletters, issue briefs, research summaries, meeting notes, and memos.
  • Assist with coordination of both virtual and onsite member committee meetings, fly-ins, and conference calls.
  • Schedule meetings with policymakers and assist with outreach to coalition partners.
  • Maintain and update databases (e.g., Salesforce) and digital assets, including committee rosters, registration links, and web content for member and public sites.
  • Provide administrative and project coordination support to the VP and broader Public Affairs team as needed.
  • Identify opportunities for improving internal processes, tools, and resource delivery.

 

Success Metrics & Performance Indicators:

  • Timely and accurate coordination of meetings, communications, and surveys.
  • Member satisfaction with support and responsiveness.
  • Quality and clarity of written materials and data outputs.
  • Consistency and accuracy in updating internal databases and public-facing content.
  • Ability to manage multiple responsibilities with attention to detail and follow-through.

Compensation & Benefits: 

  • $52,000 starting annual salary with overtime and bonus opportunities.
