Overview

We are seeking a Mail Clerk Courier , also referred to as a Laboratory Courier. The Mail Clerk Courier is responsible for the timely delivery and pickup of specimens, reports, and supplies between hospital facilities, medical offices, and patient service centers. They provide excellent customer service to clients, physicians, and staff while completing tasks assigned by the department manager or director. This position is on a per diem basis, meaning PD/PRN as needed.

Hours: Variable

Location: Saint John Hospital – Leavenworth, KS

Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (includes, but not limited to):

• Transport interoffice mail, supplies, medications, specimens, and small equipment between hospital buildings or offsite clinics on scheduled rounds
• Sort and distribute incoming and outgoing mail, medical records, lab results, billing documents, and packages across hospital departments and offices
• Deliver urgent or time-sensitive items such as lab samples, contracts, or reports directly to recipients
• Provide tracking, assist staff with mail services, and support bulk mailings or special handling needs
• Follow confidentiality, infection-control, and safety protocols while maintaining delivery logs and accountability records

Qualifications

Before we go any further, we do have some deal-breakers. You must have: 

• Required valid state Driver’s License with an excellent driving record
• High School Diploma or Equivalent required

Additional Qualifications That Are a Plus:

• OSHA/DOT/IATA certification for diagnostic specimen packaging and shipping one time every 3 years and maintain updated
• Blood borne pathogen and Chemical safety annual class requirements
