The Role:

LifeFormations is seeking a versatile and experienced Fabrication Generalist with a strong foundation in welding and machining , and a deep passion for building mechanical systems and creative structures. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a collaborative, hands-on environment and enjoys solving complex fabrication challenges.

As a Fabrication Generalist, you will contribute to the construction of mechanical and structural components used in animatronics and custom scenery. You’ll work closely with designers, engineers, and fellow fabricators to bring imaginative concepts to life.

Key Responsibilities:

• Fabricate armatures, frames, and assemblies using welding, machining, and mechanical fastening techniques.
• Interpret and follow design drawings and specifications.
• Operate and maintain metalworking tools and equipment, including mills, lathes, and saws.
• Integrate off-the-shelf components (e.g., bearings, pneumatic cylinders, motors) into custom assemblies.
• Collaborate with team members to troubleshoot and refine fabrication processes.
• Ensure all fabricated elements meet quality and safety standards.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
• Take on additional fabrication and shop tasks as needed.

Preferred Skills & Experience:

• Proficiency in MIG and TIG welding (mild steel and stainless steel).
• Experience with machining tools such as lathe and mill.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
• Familiarity with pneumatics, motors, and basic electromechanical systems.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings.
• 5–7 years of hands-on fabrication experience in a shop or production environment.
• Valid driver’s license and clean work history.
• Ability to work efficiently across multiple tasks and projects.

The things that give you an edge:

• Hands-on experience with circuitry, troubleshooting, and problem-solving in a production environment.
• Programming ability for control system optimization (Weigl controls experience is a plus!).
• Experience working with high-profile clients and IP holders a plus.
• A passion for animatronics, robotics, and entertainment technology.
