Job Description

THE COMPANY

Our client is a leading permanent crop farming enterprise with a mission to build thriving farms, foster strong communities, and create a sustainable future. Operating thousands of acres of premium crops across multiple states, the company is recognized among the top producers in its categories worldwide. Backed by substantial long-term investment, they combine traditional farming values with advanced technology to maximize yields, profitability, and resource efficiency.

Their vision goes beyond farming — they invest deeply in their people, offering competitive wages, fully paid healthcare, retirement plans, and a workplace culture grounded in ownership, candor, family, and leading by example. They believe farming can be a force for good, leaving the land, communities, and industry better than they found them.

THE POSITION

The Farm Manager is a key operational leader, responsible for the performance, health, and culture of approximately 4,000 acres of pistachio orchards in Arizona. This role balances strategic planning with hands-on leadership, ensuring optimal yields, cost efficiency, and sustainable farming practices.

You will oversee budgets, lead a high-performing team, and collaborate closely with company leadership and agronomy experts. Success in this role means delivering strong annual results while setting up the orchards for long-term productivity. This is an opportunity to join a forward-thinking agricultural leader that values innovation, integrity, and long-term stewardship.

Main Responsibilities:

Farm Operations Management

  • Oversee day-to-day operations of the pistachio orchards, ensuring safe, compliant, and efficient practices.
  • Monitor orchard health through regular field visits, proactively addressing issues related to irrigation, pests, disease, and weather.
  • Develop and maintain effective irrigation schedules in alignment with agronomic best practices.

Budget & Financial Management

  • Create and manage annual budgets and P&L performance for assigned orchards.
  • Approve expenditures, maintain accurate forecasts, and manage labor costs effectively.
  • Partner with senior leaders on long-term investment planning, capital projects, and operational improvements.

People Leadership & Culture

  • Lead, mentor, and hold accountable a team of foremen and field operators.
  • Conduct regular team meetings to communicate priorities, share updates, and gather feedback.
  • Support career growth through training, coaching, and performance evaluations.
  • Uphold and strengthen the company’s values-driven culture.

Agronomic Strategy & Sustainability

  • Collaborate with internal experts and advisors to set and execute annual agronomic plans for pistachios.
  • Leverage agricultural technology to improve operational efficiency and yields.
  • Ensure timely and accurate execution of all yield-impacting activities.
  • Plan for long-term orchard health and resource stewardship.

Stakeholder & Vendor Management

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, vendors, and service providers.
  • Coordinate with internal teams to share best practices and align on operational priorities.
  • Support leadership in evaluating potential acquisitions or expansions.

Key Performance Indicators

  • Yield/production targets
  • Profitability of the farm
  • Operational execution
  • People management

THE CANDIDATE

The ideal candidate is an agricultural operations leader who thrives on balancing hands-on field leadership with strategic planning. You are equally comfortable walking the orchards and engaging with field teams as you are managing budgets and collaborating with senior leadership. You take pride in producing exceptional results, leading with integrity, and fostering a high-performance culture rooted in respect and accountability

Experience & Skills

  • Proven track record managing permanent crops, preferably pistachios, almonds, or similar tree nuts.
  • Strong leadership experience with the ability to build and develop effective teams.
  • Solid financial management skills, including budgeting and P&L oversight.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word) and open to adopting new agricultural technologies.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred but not required.

Cultural Fit

  • Acts like an owner, taking accountability for outcomes and thinking long-term.
  • Communicates with openness, honesty, and respect.
  • Values people and fosters a collaborative, high-trust environment.
  • Leads by example, demonstrating integrity, sustainability, and stewardship.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Competitive base salary plus equity participation and performance-based bonuses.
  • Comprehensive benefits including employer-paid healthcare, retirement plan, and paid leave.
  • Relocation assistance available for qualified candidates including US Visa sponsorship
