Program Manager
Minneapolis, MN  | $40–46/hr (higher for the right fit)

Konik is partnering with a well-established defense and government contractor to add a Program Manager to their growing team. This is a long-term opportunity to join a close-knit program management team overseeing technically complex, government-regulated projects for military and defense customers. The Program Manager will play a critical role in cost, schedule, and performance execution, while also serving as a primary liaison with both the customer and internal engineering, manufacturing, and testing teams.

This is a great fit for an early-to-mid-career professional with 3–6 years of hands-on program or project management experience in a government contracting setting, especially those looking to step into more customer-facing ownership and long-term growth.

Program Manager Responsibilities:

• Lead all phases of government-regulated programs, from proposal development and estimating to full lifecycle execution, including engineering, design reviews, build, and testing.
• Serve as the primary customer contact for project status, performance updates, deliverables, and problem resolution, interfacing with both primes and occasionally directly with government agencies.
• Drive cost, schedule, and technical performance in alignment with FAR and agency requirements.
• Collaborate with internal cross-functional teams to maintain program schedules, track tasks, and ensure timely execution of deliverables and milestones.
• Author and coordinate formal proposals and task orders in response to RFPs, contributing to cost, management, and technical volumes.
• Utilize MS Project Suite, Tracker, and collaborative tools like Teams and Entrexus to manage project documentation and cross-team coordination.
• Navigate hybrid waterfall/agile development cycles typical in engineering and manufacturing environments.

Program Manager Qualifications:

• 3–6 years of direct experience leading government programs in a project/program management capacity.
• Strong working knowledge of the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) and task order-based contract environments.
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, or a related technical field.
• PMP certification strongly preferred (or willingness to obtain within a reasonable timeframe).
• Experience managing the full lifecycle of government projects—from proposals to testing and delivery.
• Background in manufacturing, engineering, IT, or related technical fields is welcome; flexibility across domains as long as FAR experience is present.
• Proficiency in MS Project, Tracker, and modern collaborative environments (Teams, shared documents, etc.).
• Strong communication skills, ability to manage ambiguity, and a high degree of professional integrity.

Schedule & Work Environment:

• Typical schedule is four days on-site, with one day as a flexible remote or in-office day.
• Core business hours are 8:00 AM–4:30 PM, with flexibility based on meetings and project cycles.
• Occasional overtime during project surges; averages around 40–50 hours/week depending on program stage.
• Minimal travel required.
