Position Summary:

The Department of Art and Art History at Rollins College invites applications for a Visiting Assistant Professor of Early Modern Art History (ca. 1400-1800). The position is a two-year non-tenure-track sabbatical/service replacement with a 4/4 teaching load beginning in August 2026.

All courses are offered inanin-personsmall classroom formatand taught to an undergraduate of specialization is open and especially welcome are applicants who can emphasize connections beyond one region. Opportunities exist for on-site teaching at the Rollins Museum of Art which includes the Alfond Collection of Contemporary Art. Coursesthat couldbecross-listedwith African & African American StudiesAmerican StudiesAsian Studies Latin American & Caribbean Studies Middle Eastern & North African Studies and/orSexuality Womens & Gender Studies programsare especially welcome.

Minimum Qualifications andEducation:

  • PhD in art historyby the time of appointment (Aug.24 2026).
  • Teaching experience at the undergraduate level; at least a Teaching Assistant capacity with potential to excel in the classroom.
  • Teaching/researchfocusinEarly ModernArt(ca.1400-1800).
  • Demonstrates an understanding that a liberal arts education includes a student-centered undergraduateexperience with a focus on teaching.
  • Articulates the ability to contribute to and sustain a diverse and inclusive learning and working environment at Rollins.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior teaching experience as instructor of record.
  • Ability to teachArt of the Early ModernPeriodemphasizing global connections.
  • Experience in object-based teaching community engagement and/or digital humanities.
